Nicaragua
During our trip to Costa Rica, Danny and I took a day trip to Nicaragua. It was amazing how many resources were dedicated to a private tour for the two of us. A driver and a guide got us to the border, then another guide took over with a cab driver. We went to San Carlos on the shore of Lake Nicaragua where we took a boat tour, with boat captain and guide. we toured an island, a museum where a woman talked to us about the history of Nicaragua, then we had a nice lunch prepared for us and back to the boat.
Crossing the border turned out to be the most challenging part of the trip. We needed to get the necessary paperwork processed, but the office was closed for almost two hours after it should have opened. The reason? The woman who ran the office was breastfeeding her baby! National law in Nicaragua grants working women the time to breastfeed. I have no problem with that, but, they shut down the border for that? No one else knows how to process the paperwork? What happens if she gets sick???
