Mexico Road Trip
Over the Christmas/New Year break of 1974/5, my brother Mike and I did a marathon road trip to Mexico. Stops along the way included St. Louis, New Orleans, Brownsville, Veracruz, Mexico City, El Paso, Carlsbad Caverns and Big Bend National Park. We made many minor stops along the way, but I can't remember them now. In 16 days we drove 8,000 miles! Yes, it was a marathon.
U.S. Customs allowed us to cross over to Mexico no questions asked. Mexican customs would not allow us to enter without proper paperwork. So we go back to get the necessary paperwork, but U.S. Customs won't let us back into the United States without the proper paperwork! Maybe someone should have mentioned that as they let us leave the country without a word of warning. We were stuck in limbo between borders. We ended up driving across a railroad bridge and entered the country illegally! We got the necessary paperwork and went back to the Mexican border where they were more than willing to let us enter.....with the proper paperwork!
You will notice many of the photos have an unusual tint. These are all housefire survivors and some were affected by the heat.
